Pedal Power

Bike the 300 miles from Grand Rapids to Chicago at Climate Ride Midwest

Full_climate_ride

Enjoy the green beer this St. Patrick’s Day. After today, you’re in training.

Because come September, you could find yourself in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with only one way to get home: your bike.

Tour the back roads of Lake Michigan the carbon-free way at the first-ever Climate Ride Midwest, departing from Grand Rapids, Michigan, September 6 and arriving in Grant Park September 9.

Along the 300-mile route in between, you’ll tour wineries and distilleries during much-needed breaks from the 60-80 miles you’ll pedal each day through artist villages and blueberry farms.

But it’s not a race. It’s a tour, which means a more meandering pace designed to let you enjoy the sights as you pass them, including the Indiana Dunes, the lazy tourist town of St. Joseph, and the lakeside summer hotspot of Saugatuck.

Each night you’ll either camp or bed down in cabins at lakeside retreats (hotel options also available) as guest speakers lead sustainability discussions during the evenings amidst bonfires and disc golf games.

Might as well get that Frisbee golf arm back in shape while you’re at it.
