5. Grant Achatz: Hot Potato, Cold Potato at Alinea
This world-famous chef, culinary genius and ladykiller has a dish that will make your tastebuds stand at attention. It’s soup (yes, soup) served in a small wax bowl that has been pierced with a skewer. On said skewer is a hot potato medallion and black truffle slice hanging precariously over cold potato soup. Remove the skewer, shoot the soup, and just like that you’ve been “hot potato, cold potatoed.” This isn’t something you just pop in and try, of course: the tasting menu runs from $210 to $265 depending on the day of the week.
