Call It a Comeback

Basement lounge The Grid overtakes Baume & Brix

Everyone loves a good comeback.

Especially when it includes spicy lobster pizza.

Rising from the still-warm ashes of Baume & Brix is The Grid, the former basement lounge that has now taken over the upstairs restaurant with a more approachable menu of burgers and beer.
 
One thing is for sure in this massive rustic-meets-industrial space. You won't have to fight for a seat during the next Bears game, with TVs visible from the dining room, bar, and lounge overlooking Hubbard Street. Venture downstairs into the original Grid to replace food service with bottle service.
 
Settle in for the coin toss in one of the high tops or black leather booths with some green curry mussels in coconut broth. By halftime, make sure The “Big Kahuna” bacon pork burger makes an appearance topped with pineapple jalapeno chutney, teriyaki mayo, and cilantro on a sweet bun.
 
To drink, you can stick with a Goose Island Matilda or show your neighborhood loyalty with a hyper-local cocktail such as the Gold Coast made with rum Cointreau, cinnamon, and ginger beer or the Bucktown filled with tequila, spiced chai syrup, and grapefruit juice.
 
Hopefully, the Bears’ comeback in week six will go down just as smooth.
