Milwaukee Avenue: the only place you can see street walkers with stilettos and bicycling preachers with megaphones in a one-block radius.
And that's before Wicker Park Fest rolls into town.
Picture this: An acrobat named Hawkman dressed in DaVinci-inspired mechanical wings performing stunts while hanging from a mobile fire truck ladder, accompanied by punk rock tunes blasting from an old gramophone.
Of course, Hawkman will be joined on his ladder machine by fellow aerialists pouring champagne into an oversized steel chandelier while suspended 30 feet above the crowd.
Musically, the bands will harmonize on the weird scale, led by Philly art rockers Man Man (Sat 9p, North Stage) chanting euphorically booze-soaked anthems backed by xylophones.
After wandering through roving art installation, play a game of bag toss or pop-a-shot before settling into a food coma with the help of Smoke Daddy, The Bedford, and The Savoy.
If you’ve got anything left in the tank, grab a beer or wine and head to the booths to check out hip gear from local shops Futurgarb and Buffalo Exchange.
But whatever you do, don’t drive the Ladder Machine home. You wouldn’t want to upset the Hawkman.
