Laugh List

Who to see at this week's TBS Just for Laughs Festival

From Seth Meyers to Bill Maher, this week’s TBS Just for Laughs Festival is breaking out the big guns.
Here’s the rest of the must-see stand-up acts at this comedy free-for-all playing out in venues throughout town.
Russell Brand
Sitting somewhere between the rock star of Get Him to the Greek and his own sarcastic troublemaker on FX's BrandX, the foul-mouthed Brand destroys every taboo in the book, from bashing Margaret Thatcher to chronicling his sexual misadventures.
Wed Jun 12 7:30p. Chicago Theatre, 175 N. State St., Loop. $43-$59 here.
David Cross
We can’t think of this longtime comic/Mr. Show co-creator without picturing the blue-painted never-nude of Arrested Development acclaim. Yet on stage, expect less Tobias Funke and more in-your-face rants, from trying to handle money on acid to awaiting the “four jetpacks of the Apocalypse.”
Thu Jun 13 7:30p. Chicago Theatre, 175 N. State St., Loop. $39-$49 here.

Nick Swardson (pictured)
While his stalker role in Blades of Glory is one of our favorite characters of all time, the nonstop freakshow of his short-lived Comedy Central show Nick Swardson’s Pretend Time should give you a better glimpse into the devious mind of this unpredictable comic who likes to riff on drunk Taco Bell and "boner soup."
Thu-Fri Jun 13-14 7:30p. The Vic, 3145 N. Sheffield Ave, Lakeview. $35 here.
Todd Barry
This underrated comic is best known as the third Conchord from HBO’s Flight of the Conchords, but he’s been carving out a living in the clubs for decades on the strength of his awesomely dry wit. From tales of lap-sitting Swedish tourists to Bluetooth hearing aids, get ready to meet your new favorite comic.
Fri-Sat Jun 14-15 10p. Stage 773, 1225 W. Belmont Ave, Lakeview. $15 here.
