Cinco de Freako

Our top Cinco de Mayo parties

Full_cinco

Just as everyone is Irish on St. Paddy’s Day, everyone is drinking tequila on Cinco de Mayo.

Celebrate the annual Mexican fiesta del borracho at these tequila-soaked Cinco de Mayo events.

Freak Out: Lucha Va Voom at the Vic
Masked Mexican wrestlers, midgets, and saucy strippers take over the Vic in this off-the-wall festival of sex and violence. Throw in live comedy and all the tequila and tamales you can handle before stumbling into the photo booth for pics we hope your boss goes blind before seeing.
Sat May 4 8:30p. Vic Theatre, 3145 N. Sheffield Ave., Lakeview (773-472-0449). $24-74 here.

Stumble Upon: Cinco de Mayo Trolley Crawl
Board a free trolley stocked with Maestro Dobel Tequila and Dos Equis for regular 30 minute trips between Lottie’s, The Pony, and Frontier. Linger at each bar long enough to take part in the raffle for prizes -- including $100 cash which you can promptly spend on more tequila.
Sun May 5 1p. Meet at Lottie’s, 1925 W. Cortland Ave., Bucktown (773-489-0736). Free; RSVP here.

Toss Off: Cinco de Mayo Cornhole Tournament
Nothing says Cinco de Mayo like a good ol’ fashioned game of bag toss, where you can impress Eva Longoria lookalikes in the singles or doubles tournaments while seeing how many $10 domestic buckets you can collect. Bonus: enter the long toss competition for a chance to win Hawks jerseys.
Sun May 5 11:30a-4p. Titled Kilt, 2300 Bushwood Drive, Elgin (815-440-4096). No cover; $20 per person in tournament.

Chill Out: Cinco de Mayo at High Noon Saloon
Sometimes all you wanna do is keep it simple. Chill out with $4 Pacifico drafts, $3 Coronas, and $3 Milagro Tequila shots amidst of bevy of Tex-Mex cuisine in Wicker Park’s newest Mexican den of sin before getting loose on the dance floor with a live DJ and mariachi band.
Sun May 5 2p. High Noon Saloon, 1560 N. Milwaukee Ave., Wicker Park (773-227-9339). No cover.
