A Wrigleyville triple play of barbecue, beer, and bourbon


It’s baseball season in Wrigleyville, which means things are about to get as messy off the field as on it. 

But instead of fans sloppy drunk from one too many beers, we're talking about getting sauced on barbeque.
Iconic sauce seller and BBQ icon Sweet Baby Ray’s is setting up a smoke house in the heart of Bro Row this Friday. In this temple of meat and bourbon stands their altar: an 850-lb capacity smoker that goes by the name of Southern Pride.
In that fiery behemoth go whole seasoned chickens, pork dusted with Sweet Baby Ray’s Finishing Powder, Texas sausage, and brisket. They're also hickory smoking enough St. Louis and Memphis-style ribs to feed the entire bleachers.
The batting order of sauces includes the sweet Heritage Smoke Orchard Bourbon, spicy Fire Alarm sauce, or the classic Sweet Baby Rays brand served in several varities from original to chipotle.
A carefully curated menu of 100 bottles focuses on American bourbons and ryes, with the drink program maintaining its Southern drawl by way of 14 craft beers including Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale.
Because Old Style belongs in the ballpark, not the smokehouse.
