Anyone can play basketball.
It takes a real athlete to watch, eat, and drink through three weeks worth of games.
With the NCAA tourney tipping off tomorrow, here’s your Rundown of top bars for March Madness specials. Don't forget to stretch.
Municipal Bar + Dining Co. (pictured)
You never know what to expect here (much like the tourney itself). Though this newbie has dozens of flatscreens, El stop art, and drinks named after local neighborhoods, they also serve truffle oil risotto and $350 bottles of Dom. But if you’d rather put the cash towards your bracket, join Chicago Sport & Social for a Thursday night commencement ceremony with $20 Coors Light buckets, half-price wings, and a live bracket competition to win concert and movie tickets.
216 W. Ohio St., River North (312-850-8196). RSVP for free Thursday party here.
Division Ale House
This cozy Irish pub swaps rugby for hoops during “March Mayhem,” complete with rotating specials including $3 Fireball shots, $4 Deschutes drafts, $5 pulled pork sandwiches, and $5 off all beer towers (80-ounce monster beer pitchers with portable tabletop taps and an interior ice cylinder). Between games, warm up by the fireplace with a board game and whiskey flight while taking on your buddies in Golden Tee. Loser buys, of course.
1942 W. Division St., Wicker Park (773-384-6886). No cover.
Deuces & the Diamond Club
Whether you find yourself in the downstairs bar Deuces or the upstairs lounge Diamond Club, a TV will always be within reach — as will $10 craft beer pitchers, $15 domestic buckets, and 50-cent wings for the duration of the tournament. Stop by on Thursday night for the kickoff party with a $25 meal buffet including domestic drafts and well drinks, or spend your bracket winnings on a VIP seating area with $325 bottle service.
3505 N. Clark St., Wrigleyville (773-644-5554). No cover; $25 meal buffet Thursday.
