Your Three Best Guesses

Test your knowledge at trivia taverns

There's gotta be something more stimulating to do this winter than sitting around watching Jeopardy (that is, unless this guy is on).

Tack on booze and co-ed teams, and you've got every reason to get out of the house and into one of these top local bars for trivia night.

The Globe Pub
With topics like Chemical States and Dead or Canadian, this friendly Northcenter soccer bar is like the New York Times crossword puzzle of trivia: enticing but difficult. Voted “Best Pub Quiz” by Chicago magazine, The Globe will make you feel like a genius if you win. If not, steak and cilantro empanadas, Scotch eggs, and shepherd's pie till midnight will help take the sting out.
8p Tuesdays. 1934 W. Irving Park Rd., Northcenter (773-871-3757)

For a party scene, head over to State where their popular trivia nights get hazy with $13 Miller Lite and $18 Blue Moon pitchers. By the end of seven rounds of trivia -- including a picture round and "name that tune" -- you might need to scream to get your answer heard 'cuz the place is loud and buzzing. But then again, that's half the fun.
8p Tuesdays. 935 W. Webster St., Lincoln Park (773-975-8030)

Burwood Tap
For a less competitive, more laid-back vibe, head into this 80-year-old wood-paneled pub where a free buffet of stuffed shells, meatballs, and Caesar salad is served 30 minutes before quiz time. Reasonable trivia on topics like geography, famous people, and punk music sets the table for a fun night with the help of $3 domestic drafts, $3 house drinks, and all the free popcorn you can eat.
9p Wednesdays. 724 W. Wrightwood St., Lincoln Park (773-525-2593)
