Crafty Crawlers

Scour the city for brew during Chicago Craft Beer Week

Imagine The Amazing Race.

Now imagine The Amazing Race with beer. Lots and lots of beer.

That's pretty much the point of next week's Chicago Craft Beer Week, where you are encouraged to explore the city while sampling as many craft beers as possible.

All you need to do is pick up a free map and lanyard at one of 14 pickup locations, from the West Loop's Haymarket Pub to River North's Farmhouse to Ukrainian Village's Bar DeVille.

Then you're off to explore more than 200 participating venues throughout the city and suburbs, where each beer will earn you a sticker to place onto your map.

In the process, enjoy food pairing events such as pork tenderloin & Two Brothers' Dog Days Dortmunder at Owen & Engine or Lindeman's Peche & mortadella pizza at Nellcote.

There's even a live tattooing event at Berwyn's Cigars and Stripes BBQ, where Against the Grain will be offering tastings with pairings of smoked meat sausage cooked in the beer garden.

Been meaning to get out and explore the city but needed a little beer encouragement?

You're officially out of excuses.
