We used to say "there's always next year."
Now it's more like "there's this year — again."
Even more reason to celebrate the view from the top of the pile on Friday with these Opening Day activities.Open Sesame
Just because you can get sushi at Fenway these days, doesn't necessarily mean you should. Especially when Naga is offering specialty rolls like the Big Papi (tempura crab, crawfish, and spicy tuna) and Green Monster (tempura shrimp, cucumber, avocado, and wasabi tobiko) to pair with a not-overpriced beer or one of their Sox-inspired cocktails while you take in the game on the big screen.
Fri 1p. Naga, 450 Massachusetts Ave., Central Square (617-661-4900). Free.
A special day requires a special beer, or maybe six. Find them at the Alchemist Lounge, one of two mobile bars debuting on the newly renovated roof deck at Jerry Remy's, which features a half-dozen "High Octane" craft beers (12-18% ABV, limit one per guest) in 22 oz. bottles. They each pair well with both the new food items (foie gras kobe burger FTW) and the views.
Jerry Remy's, 1265 Boylston St., Fenway (617-236-7369).
After an Opening Day W, the real games begin at the House of Blues, where actor Mike O'Malley and ex-Sox star Kevin Millar host players and coaches in a TV game show spoof complete with shiny suits and strange prizes. All proceeds go to the Red Sox Foundation. If last year's event was any indication, this should be good.
Fri immediately following the game. House of Blues, 15 Lansdowne St., Fenway (888-693-2583). $75-500 here.
