The line on your thermometer keeps going south.

It may be trying to tell you something.

Make like a bird and head south this winter to Punta del Este, the beautiful and posh beach resort town on the coast of Uruguay that's known as the St. Tropez of South America.

BEDS
Given all the clubbing in your future, it's not a bad idea to make your hotel an oasis of peace and sparkling views (plus king-size beds). The Hotel Fassano Punta del Este check those boxes and them some, with bungalow suites boasting private terraces, limestone bathrooms, and 42" HD TVs.
Cno. Cerro Egusquiza y Paso del Barranco, +598 4267 0000.

But maybe your holiday bonus demands bigger? Then go for a luxurious beachfront villa (starting at $25,000/week from Curiocity Villas) that will have everyone asking about the new American playboy throwing those all-night parties in the big house.

BEACHES
As the favored South American playground of celebs and big spenders, Punta del Este features plenty of tanned and toned eye candy along their numerous beaches. We suggest you make friends at Playa Bikini, where Brazilian models and Argentine soccer stars regularly soak in the sun until it sets over the Atlantic.

From there, stroll along with your new amigos to Playa Brava, where the famous "Fingers" monument rises out of the sand, before you head out for the night.

BOLICHES
Forget everything you know about Boston clubs: in the boliches of Punta del Este, the party is just starting to hit full force around 2a, and it doesn't stop until the last man stumbles out into the next day's sunlight.

Remember those famous friends you made? You might ask them about getting in to Tequila, the city's most storied and exclusive club (hint: don't look like a tourist).
Call 11 La Brava, +598 989 50960

More easily attainable options include the beach club lounge comforts of Sarava or making moves with the locals at Ocean Club.

Parada 12 de la Brava, +598 4248 4869

BITES
In Punta, nothing is too far from the beach — or in the case of Guappa, right on it. Once you've toweled off, grab a table on the terrace for spectacular sunset views looking out on to Gorriti Island while dining on grass-fed Uruguyan beef or fresh local seafood.
Rambla Gral. Artigas (btw. Calle 27 & 28), +598 4244 0951

If you're looking for something more casual, try La Huella, a popular beachfront tiki bar, or the tropical garden atmosphere at Floreal.
