Highball Lounge serves up booze with your board games

You don't really know someone until you've drank with them.

Or played them in Battleship. While drinking.

So if you bring a date to Highball Lounge, now open at the Nine Zero Hotel in Downtown, be prepared to do a little of both.

It's like a plush, modern, top-floor version of your grandfather's den. Yes, those are old board games on the rustic wooden bookshelf. Yes, you can play them on cafe tables or on the leather wrap-around couch that's definitely not covered in plastic. And yes, the DJ is on the boards each and every night

No, unlike at your grandfather's place, these Highball's highball cocktails have more than whiskey and haunted wartime tears in them. Try the Zazarac (Wild Turkey, absinthe, raw sugar, and bitters) or the #DuckieRose, a sweet little wine blend number that comes with its own rubber ducky. And hashtag.

After a few rounds, and maybe a plate of tater tot nachos or Korean fried chicken nuggets, you can cozy up for a little high stakes game of Connect Four.

Maybe you should just let her win.
