Hog Wild

Eat pork like it's going out of style at The Salty Pig

What a difference a year makes.

Last September, we stood on the edge of a global crisis, fueled by reports of an imminent worldwide bacon shortage that were later, mercifully, proved untrue

This September, Porkapalooza at The Salty Pig is the place to give thanks for at least one more year of pigging out.

If we were down to our last pork reserves, we'd want to be holed up in a kitchen somewhere with Salty Pig chefs Kevin O'Donnell and Michael Lombardi, Jr., who face off in a pig-based cooking challenge against guest competitors like there really is no tomorrow.

If either chefs Karen Akunowicz of Myers + Chang (next Monday) or Suzi Maitland of Trina's Starlite Lounge (Oct. 3) can produce a superior dish using the same predetermined pig ingredient as their anchor, they'll earn local bragging rights from now until doomsday.

If not, well, you'll survive. With one beverage included in between the two courses, both served family style, you still have plenty to tide you over.

At least until next September.
