We know what you're thinking: please, not another cookout.
You're just getting back to the gym after crushing the 4th of July BBQ circuit, and it would take something really special — say, a four-day food fest in City Hall Plaza featuring 30+ of the city's best restaurants, plus maybe some celebrity chef appearances and a stacked lineup of art and entertainment — to pique your interest.
So yeah, clear your schedule Thursday through Sunday for the Boston Fork Lift Food Fest.
As the culinary portion of the free week-long Outside the Box event that kicked off last Friday, it's actually a festival-within-a-festival. And trust us, these live bands (Bosstones, yes!) will be better than the iPod playlist from that other cookout (Miley, no!).
No charred dogs or bland burgers here. You'll enjoy cones from Batch Ice Cream, home cooking from Estelle's Southern Cuisine, and bites from Blue Ginger and Chef Ming Tsai, all of whom will be on hand alongside chefs Jeremy Sewall (Island Creek Oyster Bar), Todd English (Olive's) and others.
Once you tire of delicious food and chef demos and discussions, there's a magical place called the Beer & Wine Emporium where you can make new friends and get lost in fermented greatness.
Which would be a damn fine band name for the inevitable playlist at your next cookout.
