Dinner With Andre

The Princess Bride, now with dinner included

Once upon a time, dinner and a movie constituted a date.

If that's all it took these days for a memorable date, you wouldn't need us.

Sometimes a simple twist can bring new life to a classic, though, and that's what's going down Monday night at The Princess Bride at the Reel Chefs event at Revere Hotel.

When we say dinner and a movie, we don't mean grabbing a bite after the show. We're talking a gourmet three-course tasting menu inspired by the film, served as you watch the show from your Italian leather seat in the hotel's private cinema.

That means bring an appetite the size of Andre the Giant for roasted Buttercupsquash soup with pumpkin seed oil, savory granola, and “Screaming Eel” dumpling. It's the creation of James Beard Award-nominated chef Will Gilson of Inman Square's Puritan and Co.

And don't be afraid of the “Rodents of Unusual Size" this time -- it's just wild rabbit sausage and crispy rillette.

By time time you get to dessert, you'll be asking "Anybody want a peanut?," thanks to the chocolate tart with peanut butter mousse.

And as you finish your Bride-inspired signature cocktail during the final credits scroll, chances are you'll have cast your own spell over your date.

Inconceivable? Not anymore.
