Mexican de Mayo

Rosa Mexicano drops anchor in the Seaport District

A new rose is blooming in the Seaport District this spring.

Upscale Mexican restaurant Rosa Mexicano ushers in the season when it opens in a few weeks, pairing robust south-of-the-border flavors with a standout location right on the water.

The New York-based franchise arrives in Boston with its reputation for modern Mexican cuisine firmly established.

Expect signature favorites including fresh guacamole prepared table-side in traditional lava-rock mortar alongside ambitious main courses from roasted duck in mole sauce to Mexican street salad with barbecued tuna loin.

As the seasons turn, you'll want to sip one of their six signature margaritas — we like La Suprema, made with reposado tequila, fresh lime, Cointreau, and Grand Marnier — on the patio with views of the Boston harbor.

A rose by any other name wouldn't smell this sweet.
