The Fifth Sense
You have the right to drink at The 5th Amendment Alehouse
The latest gastropub to open up near the 3rd Street Promenade, The 5th Amendment Alehouse appeals to discerning local drinkers looking for casual fare minus tourist prices.

The bar’s decor (thankfully) missed the theme-requirement memo by lacking any law books or scales of justice. Instead, it's laid out like an upscale cafeteria sporting smooth wood-grained booths and tables. Post-work professionals and post-sunset couples coming from the beach fill the place during the marathon happy hour, which runs from 5p to 2a, seven days a week.

Bring your closest circle of meatarian friends and order from the artisanal sausage menu, consisting of critters seen in campy outdoor murals (pheasant, rabbit, elk, deer). Order the perfectly seasoned rabbit and veal, cut them up like sushi rolls and split with the table.

If you're not into sharing, skip the novelty llama burger and go straight for the juicy, grain-fed beef on the bun. Vegetarians can choose cheese plates designed for pairing with the craft beer menu.

And what a menu it is: Twenty beers on tap and almost three dozen in bottles, including a well-represented contingent of Belgians (Chimay, Delirium Tremens, Duvel) and top-tier local brews (Racer 5, Telegraph White, Mission Blonde).

If you don't like beer, you're SOL: the wine list is paltry.
